Irregular Periods
When your cycle feels unpredictable
Irregular periods are common, but they’re often a sign that something isn’t quite right. This might mean your cycles are very far apart, very close together, unpredictable, or have changed over time.
If your periods are difficult to track, interfering with daily life, or affecting fertility, it’s worth having them assessed.
How irregular periods are assessed
Assessment starts with understanding your cycle, your symptoms, and any changes over time. This is often followed by pelvic ultrasound and, when needed, blood tests to assess hormone levels and ovulation.
Ultrasound allows detailed assessment of the uterus and ovaries, including:
Ovarian cysts
Features of PCOS
Uterine changes such as adenomyosis
My training in advanced pelvic ultrasound helps ensure subtle findings are not missed and that treatment is based on clarity rather than trial and error.
Treatment options
Treatment is tailored to the cause and your priorities. This may include:
Reassurance and monitoring
Hormonal or non-hormonal medication
Management of ovulation disorders
Treatment of underlying conditions such as fibroids, adenomyosis, or endometriosis
Fertility-focused care if pregnancy is a goal
We will talk through what makes sense for you so that your care fits your life, not just your test results.
How I can help
I use advanced pelvic ultrasound and careful assessment to identify what is affecting your cycle and guide treatment.
Whether your goal is symptom control, cycle regulation, or fertility, we’ll take a thoughtful, step-by-step approach.
